Ottawa Fire Services responded to a fire Sunday at a multi-unit high-rise in the 600 block of St. Patrick Street. Crews were called at 12:50 p.m. after reports of a light haze and upon arrival discovered elevated carbon monoxide levels in the building.
The situation was upgraded to a working fire at 2:26 p.m., prompting additional resources, including an OC Transpo bus to shelter 22 displaced residents. Firefighters completed two searches of the building and confirmed no one was inside. The fire was brought under control at 3:17 p.m.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause, and Victim Services attended the scene to assist residents.
