OPP say a speeding driver on Highway 17 in Sudbury tried to outrun officers but instead crashed into a post on the afternoon of Dec. 5. Police had recorded the vehicle travelling more than 50 km/h over the 90 km/h limit before the driver attempted to evade them. No one was hurt in the collision.

A 36-year-old man from Markstay-Warren now faces charges of dangerous operation and stunt driving. He has a court appearance set for Feb. 18 in Sudbury. His licence has been suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
