A 39-year-old man from Oshawa is facing multiple charges following a serious three-vehicle collision that left a motorcyclist critically injured and caused a vehicle to crash into a Harvey’s restaurant.

Police say the crash happened Monday morning at the intersection of Park Road and King Street in west Oshawa. A Nissan SUV and a Triumph motorcycle were stopped in the left through lane when a Dodge Journey struck both vehicles from behind.

Investigators say the Dodge continued moving after the initial impact before crashing into the Harvey’s restaurant located at the northeast corner of the intersection. No pedestrians were hurt.

The 69-year-old motorcycle rider was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with life-altering injuries. Police later said his condition improved from critical to stable.

The 45-year-old driver of the Nissan and two young passengers, ages 15 and 7, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities confirmed the driver of the Dodge was uninjured and was arrested at the scene without incident.

Timothy Eugene Wilson of Oshawa has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, driving while suspended and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
