Ontario Provincial Police say four people were taken to hospital after a collision involving a transport truck and an ambulance in Madoc on Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62. Emergency crews responded from the Central Hastings detachment. Both paramedics were taken to hospital, with one later airlifted by Ornge to a trauma centre due to critical injuries. The other remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The two occupants of the transport truck were also transported to hospital as a precaution.
The ambulance involved belonged to Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services. The intersection remains closed while repairs are made to damaged traffic lights.
