A 63-year-old man is in critical condition following a head-on crash in Clarington, according to Durham Regional Police.
The collision happened shortly after noon on Sunday along Trulls Road near Prince Rupert Drive. Investigators say a black GMC pickup truck collided head-on with a grey Chevrolet SUV, prompting a large emergency response.
Police said the pickup truck driver was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the 48-year-old SUV driver and two passengers were also taken to hospital as a precaution and have since been discharged.
Authorities closed the roadway for several hours while investigators examined the scene. Early findings suggest the crash may have been triggered by a medical emergency.
