A 43-year-old man from Gatineau is facing charges related to impaired driving and drug trafficking following a crash on December 27.

The incident occurred just after midnight when the Ottawa OPP responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Highway 417 near March Road. Upon arrival, officers suspected the driver was impaired and conducted a roadside screening test. The driver was then taken to the detachment for further testing.

The man has been charged with several offenses, including impaired driving (alcohol and drugs), operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, possession of cannabis for distribution, possession of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis in a public place, and possession of property obtained through crime over $5,000.

In addition, his driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
