A 20-year-old man from Georgina is facing impaired driving charges after crashing a golf cart into a shed at a trailer park in Kawartha Lakes early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. at a trailer park on Tracey’s Hill Road in Emily Township. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) believe the driver was impaired when the crash happened. OPP officials emphasized that impaired driving laws apply to golf carts just like other vehicles, including cars, ATVs, and boats.
The man was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit. His license has been suspended for 90 days, and the golf cart was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court in Lindsay at a later date.
