A 45-year-old man from Guelph is facing multiple charges after a crash that led police to uncover a long list of alleged offences, including another impaired driving case.

Guelph police were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Willow Road and Edinburgh Road North shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers determined that one of the drivers was already wanted in connection with several outstanding matters, including impaired and dangerous driving, and had missed court appearances tied to three earlier impaired driving cases.

Police say officers detected alcohol on the man’s breath during his arrest. He failed a roadside breath test and was taken to the police station, where further testing confirmed his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

Investigators also learned the man had taken his mother’s vehicle without her consent. As a result, the car was seized and impounded for seven days.

He now faces charges including impaired driving, taking a motor vehicle without permission, failing to attend court, and multiple Highway Traffic Act offences.
