A 19-year-old man from Guelph is facing multiple charges after fleeing from police and crashing into a hydro pole Monday night.

Police say an officer on patrol near Woodlawn Road West and Imperial Road North saw the driver cut off another vehicle to enter a plaza around 9 p.m. When the officer turned on emergency lights, the suspect sped away, lost control, and crashed into a ditch before hitting a hydro pole. Three passengers sustained minor injuries.

Investigators later found the man was under house arrest and prohibited from contacting one of the passengers. He now faces charges including dangerous driving, fleeing police, failing to remain at the scene, two counts of breaching a release order, and stunt driving.

His licence has been suspended for 30 days, the vehicle impounded for 14, and he was held for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
