A 70-year-old man has died after a house fire in Hamilton on Saturday.
Hamilton police say officers were called to a home on Spadina Avenue near Dunsmure Road and Gage Avenue South shortly before noon. One resident was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital, where he later died.
Police say the fire damage was confined to a single bedroom. Damages are estimated to be about $10,000. The cause and origin of the blaze have not yet been determined, and the circumstances remain under investigation.
The Hamilton Police Arson Unit has taken over the case. Investigators say there is currently no indication that the fire was the result of criminal activity.
