Two people were hospitalized after a car and a pickup truck collided head-on Monday afternoon on Highway 174 at McTeer Road in Cumberland, Ottawa.

Fire crews responded just after 2 p.m. to the head-on crash. They arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged, particularly along the front and driver’s sides, with debris strewn across the road.

Firefighters from Rockland assisted Ottawa crews in managing the scene. One driver was trapped, prompting crews to use hydraulic tools to remove multiple doors and cut a structural post to safely free the individual.

Paramedics transported the car’s driver to hospital with serious but stable injuries, while the pickup driver was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
