A head-on crash in Bradford West Gwillimbury claimed the lives of two dogs and left both drivers injured Saturday morning, according to South Simcoe Police.
Officers were called to Canal Road at approximately 7:40 a.m. after a westbound Honda truck crossed the centre line and struck an oncoming Lexus SUV.
The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway and into a ditch. Police say each vehicle had one person inside, while the Lexus was also carrying two dogs. Both animals died as a result of the collision.
The two drivers were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
The driver of the Honda, a 32-year-old Angus man, was subsequently charged with dangerous operation and operation causing bodily harm.
