A late-night transport truck rollover caused a significant oil spill, forcing the closure of ramps connecting Highway 427 and Highway 409 in both directions during Wednesday’s morning commute.

The crash happened shortly after 11 p.m., and the driver sustained minor injuries, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Cleanup crews worked for several hours to contain and remove the spilled oil, keeping the ramps shut down until after 9 a.m., which led to heavy congestion during rush hour.

Drivers were advised to use alternate routes such as Dixon Road and Highway 401 as delays worsened throughout the morning.
