Heavy rainfall continued to cause major transportation disruptions across the Greater Toronto Area on Thursday morning, with multiple collisions, flooding, and significant traffic delays affecting key highways.
Several crashes were reported during the morning commute on Highway 401, the Don Valley Parkway, Highway 400, and Highway 404. Flooding also forced the closure of Bayview Avenue in both directions near Evergreen Brick Works.
Traffic on eastbound Highway 401 experienced lengthy delays after a truck rollover near Yonge Street shut down several express lanes. Additional flooding was reported near Leslie Street, while another collision blocked two eastbound express lanes near Allen Road.
Westbound Highway 401 drivers also faced major slowdowns due to a jack-knifed tractor-trailer near James Snow Parkway and a separate collision on the ramp connecting Highway 401 to southbound Highway 427.
Police warned that wet road conditions created hazardous driving conditions throughout the morning and urged motorists to use extra caution.
