Toronto police are investigating a fatal incident in the city’s west end that left one person dead early Sunday morning after what officers believe was a targeted attack.
Emergency crews were called to an apartment building on Agate Road near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue just after 6 a.m. following reports of a disturbance involving multiple people.
Police say a confrontation occurred inside or near the building before the victim, identified as 32-year-old Erik Safar, was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene. One other person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A witness in the area described being awakened by loud noises and a vehicle engine before discovering a severe and disturbing scene outside the building.
The suspect vehicle is described only as light-coloured, and no arrests have been made. Investigators continue to search for those responsible and are asking anyone with information or video footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
