Police are investigating a hit-and-run after a 35-year-old woman from Richmond Hill was found dead on the shoulder of Highway 89 in Innisfil on Sunday morning.
Provincial police received a report about the woman’s body near the 5th Side Road around 3 a.m. They believe she was struck by a blue passenger vehicle traveling east, possibly while walking along the highway before 2 a.m. The vehicle involved has been located, but the driver has not been identified.
Police are asking the public for help in identifying the driver and are seeking any relevant information, including dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident.
Highway 89 was closed between King Street and 5th Side Road for several hours during the investigation, and has since reopened. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nottawasaga OPP, quoting reference number E250924642.
