Police in Hamilton are trying to locate the driver of an SUV involved in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously hurt.

The collision occurred just before noon on Feb. 18 at the intersection of Rymal Road and Upper Wellington Street. According to investigators, a Jeep SUV allegedly drove through a red light and struck a 44-year-old man who was crossing the area.

Officers say the driver stopped momentarily but then continued eastbound on Rymal Road, leaving the scene.

The injured man was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have not released a description of the suspect or additional details about the vehicle.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or surveillance footage to come forward. Information can be provided directly to investigators at 905-546-2886 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
