Guelph Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian who was struck while using a crosswalk at Wellington Street East and Neeve Street around 2:30 a.m. The victim was reportedly thrown into the air and landed on the road.

According to police, the driver initially stopped down the street and approached the victim on foot. He allegedly offered to drive the victim home and then offered $300 in exchange for not reporting the incident. When witnesses suggested calling an ambulance, the driver returned to his car and fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, 18 to 23 years old, approximately 5’8″ to 5’9″ tall, with a thin build and short light brown or blonde hair that is curly on top. He was wearing a light-coloured t-shirt and shorts and was driving an older red compact car, possibly a Toyota or Nissan.
