Police in Niagara are trying to locate the driver of a white Mercedes involved in a Saturday night hit-and-run that left a cyclist critically hurt. The collision happened around 8:30 p.m. near Dunkirk Road and the Service Road in St. Catharines, close to the QEW Garden City Skyway Bridge.
Investigators say the car struck a male cyclist and continued west on Dunkirk Road. The vehicle is expected to show noticeable front-end damage, including a broken or damaged passenger-side mirror.
Paramedics transported the injured cyclist to a hospital outside the region.
Collision reconstruction officers examined the scene, while detectives are asking nearby residents and businesses to check surveillance footage from the timeframe of the crash and report any sightings of the white Mercedes or its driver.
