Halton police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Burlington and are searching for the vehicle involved.
A woman was struck near Maple Avenue and Richmond Road at approximately 3:45 p.m. Thursday. She died as a result of her injuries.
Police said the driver did not remain at the scene and fled north on Maple Avenue. The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured sedan and is expected to have visible damage to its front end.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the vehicle or driver to come forward.
Update – On September 2, police announced that 61-year-old Hamilton resident William McArthur had been arrested and charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision involving a death.
McArthur was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 25.
