Firefighters responded to the blaze at a two-storey home on Martin Grove Road, south of Rathburn Road, at 3:10 a.m. When crews arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the property was unoccupied at the time.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and while no injuries were reported, nearby homes were evacuated. TTC buses were brought in to provide shelter for displaced residents.
Toronto Fire said the house was being renovated and it’s possible that the second floor may have collapsed due to ongoing construction. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
