A 70-year-old driver from Huntsville, Ontario, has died following a single-vehicle rollover involving a commercial logging truck on a highway on-ramp in northern Ontario.
The incident took place Sunday morning around 7 a.m. on the southbound on-ramp from Highway 124 to Highway 11 in Strong Township.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), North Bay ambulance services, and the Sundridge-Strong Fire Department responded to the scene. The driver of the logging truck was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to injuries from the crash. A passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The on-ramp was closed for approximately 12 hours while emergency crews and collision investigators worked at the scene. OPP stated that the investigation into the cause of the rollover is ongoing. At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been released, and no information about potential charges has been disclosed.
