A 36-year-old man is facing charges after a boating accident near the Port Whitby Marina Monday night. At around 9:20 p.m., emergency crews responded to reports of impaired boaters. A boat had struck rocks, causing all three occupants—including a seven-year-old child—to fall into the water.

Fortunately, off-duty firefighters nearby intervened quickly and rescued everyone without reported injuries. The boat, later towed to the marina, showed visible damage to its bow. The driver was arrested and charged with impaired operation and refusing a breath demand.
