A 35-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving after a late-night collision in a parking lot on Anne Street South.
Police responded around 10:20 p.m. Thursday to reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a suspected impaired driver. Officers at the scene observed signs of impairment.
A roadside screening test was administered, which the driver failed. He was then taken to police headquarters, where further breath testing showed his blood alcohol level was significantly above the legal limit. Investigators also reported finding an open, partially consumed container of alcohol in the vehicle.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The man now faces multiple charges, including impaired driving and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, as well as having an open container of alcohol in the car. His vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver’s licence has been suspended.
