A Windsor man is facing several driving-related charges after police say he was found unresponsive inside a vehicle involved in a collision in the city’s east end.

The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday near Walker Road and Ducharme Street. Police say the vehicle driven by the 32-year-old struck another car that was stopped at a traffic signal.

When officers arrived, they found the driver still inside the vehicle, which remained in drive with his foot on the brake. Police say they observed indicators of possible drug impairment and discovered drug paraphernalia and suspected drug residue inside the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody and transported to Windsor Police headquarters for further assessment. Police say he subsequently failed a drug recognition evaluation.

He has been charged with drug-impaired operation, dangerous driving, driving while suspended, operating a vehicle without insurance, and using a licence plate that was not authorized for the vehicle.
