A 39-year-old man with a history of driving suspensions is facing multiple charges after a four-vehicle collision on Highway 417 in Ottawa late Saturday night. The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Metcalfe Street.

Ontario Provincial Police say the man, suspected of impaired driving, initially underwent roadside screening but allegedly refused to provide further breath samples to a qualified technician.

He was subsequently charged with impaired driving, refusing to comply with a demand, dangerous driving, operating a vehicle without insurance, and two counts of driving while prohibited.

Two people, including the suspect, sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital. The accused had already been suspended twice under the Criminal Code and has now received a new 90-day licence suspension. His vehicle was impounded for seven days.
