A 22-year-old novice driver is facing multiple charges after crashing into a ditch in West Nipissing earlier this month. Ontario Provincial Police were called to a single-vehicle collision on Kirkpatrick Road shortly after 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 16.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics. Police determined the driver was impaired by alcohol and made an arrest at the scene.
The Warren resident was charged with impaired driving, failing to wear a seatbelt properly, and operating a vehicle as a novice driver with alcohol in their system. The accused was released with a court appearance scheduled for Feb. 5 at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
As part of the penalties, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
