A Kemptville man is facing impaired driving charges after a call for roadside assistance on Highway 417 led police to uncover a collision.
Provincial police said the 59-year-old contacted officers Wednesday evening near the Vanier area, reporting a breakdown and requesting traffic control support. When officers arrived, they found his vehicle’s windshield badly damaged.
Investigators later determined the driver had struck a sign within Ottawa city limits and left the scene before police were called. Officers also suspected impairment and conducted roadside alcohol testing before taking him to a detachment for further screening.
He has been charged with impaired operation and having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
