London fire crews responded to a house fire in the city’s east end early Saturday morning. The blaze, which started in the kitchen of a home on the 200 block of Rainbow Avenue, was quickly contained and extinguished by firefighters.

A dog died from smoke inhalation during the incident. The estimated damage from the fire is $60,000.

London Fire is reminding residents to never leave cooking unattended and to ensure their smoke alarms are working to help prevent such incidents in the future.
