Ottawa Fire Services responded to a large barn fire on Thursday afternoon in the 6200 block of Fourth Line Road. Firefighters received the report shortly after 3:30 p.m. and arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in flames and billowing black smoke.

Due to the lack of nearby hydrants, firefighters had to shuttle in water to control the blaze. A hydro line also collapsed, complicating the situation. By 4 p.m., the barn collapsed, and a personnel check confirmed all firefighters were safe, except for one who sustained a minor injury. This firefighter was taken to the hospital but was later released. By 5 p.m., the fire was under control.

The property owners confirmed there were no animals inside the barn. An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is working to determine the fire’s cause.
