A fire severely damaged a townhome in Orléans on Sunday afternoon, displacing eight people. Ottawa Fire Services received multiple 9-1-1 calls shortly after 3 p.m. about heavy smoke and flames coming from a home on Waterfern Way.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire in the end unit of a two-storey, five-unit townhome building. They quickly began battling the blaze and managed to bring it under control by 4:23 p.m.
The fire affected two townhomes, forcing four residents from each home to evacuate. Fortunately, no one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
