A lightning strike is being blamed for a barn fire in London early Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 4195 Bostwick Road, near Wonderland Road South and Hamlyn Street, around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, they used a defensive attack to control the blaze, managing to contain the damage to the building’s footprint.

The barn’s concrete walls and metal roof collapsed during the fire. London Fire estimates the damage at over $200,000.

In addition, London Hydro reported that nearly 4,000 customers in the Bostwick, Lambeth, Sharon Creek, Talbot, and Tempo areas were without power. The estimated time for power restoration was 7 a.m.
