A 21-year-old man from London was seriously injured—but not life-threateningly—in a Barrie crash during Tuesday morning rush hour. Paramedics took him to hospital, and he was later released. A 41-year-old Barrie man involved in the collision was uninjured.

Police said the crash occurred when a vehicle traveling west on Dunlop Street West attempted a left turn onto the Highway 400 southbound ramp during a green light, colliding with a pickup truck traveling east at the same time. No charges have been laid yet, though police indicated charges are pending.

The crash caused significant slowdowns, and authorities reported some drivers dangerously bypassed police cruisers blocking the scene. Barrie Police emphasized the importance of seatbelt use as a critical safety measure. The intersection and highway ramps remained closed for several hours and reopened around 10:30 a.m.
