Provincial police say a pedestrian was killed late Saturday night along Highway 401 in central Ontario. Officers responded around 10:40 p.m. to a two-vehicle collision near Cochrane Road in the Township of Cramahe, where a vehicle had been stopped near the median in the westbound lanes and a pedestrian was struck.

A 22-year-old man from Chatham was pronounced dead at the scene. The westbound section of Highway 401 between Big Apple Drive and County Road 30 was closed during the investigation and reopened by 5 a.m. Sunday. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
