A 23-year-old man is facing a careless driving charge following a single-vehicle crash that shut down part of Brant Road in Brant County for several hours. Ontario Provincial Police were called to the scene south of Highway 5 around 4:05 a.m. Thursday after a vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The impact brought down power lines, forcing the road to close in both directions while crews addressed the damaged pole and live wires. The affected section of Brant Road, between Highway 5 and German School Road, reopened shortly before 1 p.m. Police reported no injuries.
