A 27-year-old man from Kitchener suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Waterloo late Tuesday night.

Police say the collision occurred around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of King Street North and Princess Street West when a BMW struck the pedestrian. The man was transported to a hospital outside the region for treatment.

The driver, a 35-year-old Waterloo man, was not injured. Charges are pending as investigators continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The intersection was closed for several hours to allow for an on-scene investigation, and police are asking witnesses to come forward.
