A 28-year-old man is facing multiple impaired driving charges after police say he struck an unoccupied vehicle in Sault Ste. Marie early Monday morning.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Lake Street shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Monday following a 911 report of a collision. Police said their investigation determined the accused vehicle had hit a parked vehicle in a driveway.
The driver was administered a roadside breath test, which resulted in a fail. He was then taken to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Building, where further breath tests allegedly showed alcohol levels above the legal limit.
The man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation and operating with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21.
