Halton Regional Police have charged a 31-year-old man from West Burlington in connection with a December 2024 vehicle collision in Sault Ste. Marie.
The crash happened on Dec. 10 near Allens Sideroad and Second Line West. The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
According to Sault Ste. Marie police, officers found cannabis and drug-related items within reach of the driver’s seat and suspected the man had been operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs. Subsequent toxicology testing confirmed drug impairment, leading police to obtain an arrest warrant.
The accused turned himself in to Halton police on Tuesday and was charged with impaired operation and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
