A 31-year-old Greater Sudbury man is facing numerous charges after police say he fled the scene of a collision and was later found to be impaired.
Officers responded to a crash near Bancroft Drive shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday. Police say a pickup truck struck another vehicle before leaving the area.
The truck was located about an hour later, and investigators identified the driver. Police determined he was driving while suspended, was wanted in connection with numerous theft under $5,000 charges and was allegedly impaired.
The man has been charged with impaired driving, failing to stop after an accident, failing to remain at the scene, 19 counts of theft under $5,000, driving while suspended, careless driving, driving without a permit and failing to surrender an insurance card.
His licence was suspended for an additional 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days as part of the impaired-driving investigation. The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
