A 41-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie faces multiple driving-related charges after his vehicle ended up in a ditch on Manitou Drive last week.
Police responded around 6 p.m. on November 3 following a 911 call. They found the driver standing outside the vehicle and determined he showed signs of alcohol impairment. A roadside breath test failed, and a search revealed a small quantity of cannabis. Further testing at the police station confirmed his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
The man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, two impaired driving offences—including exceeding the 0.08 blood alcohol limit—and driving with cannabis readily available. He also received a 90-day licence suspension, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on December 1.
