A 51-year-old man has died following a collision involving a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer on Highway 17A in Kenora.
The crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Aug. 1, 2026, prompting a response from the Ontario Provincial Police, firefighters, and paramedics. The pedestrian was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Garnet Michaud of Wabaseemoong Independent Nations.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, though police have indicated that no charges are expected. Highway 17A has since fully reopened to traffic.
