A fatal single-vehicle crash in rural west Ottawa has left a 56-year-old man dead and led to several hours of highway closures.
Ontario Provincial Police say the collision occurred around 6 a.m. Friday in the westbound lanes of Highway 417 between Panmure Road and Kinburn Side Road. The vehicle was discovered in a ditch, and the lone occupant, a man from Arnprior, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
Westbound Highway 417 was shut down at Panmure Road while officers investigated the crash. The Ministry of Transportation confirmed the lanes reopened around 12:25 p.m.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the OPP.
