Durham police say a 64-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Oshawa on New Year’s Eve.
The collision occurred around 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of Simcoe Street North and Byng Avenue. Police say the pedestrian was on the roadway when he was struck by a Ford hatchback. He was taken to a trauma centre in the Toronto area, where he remains in critical condition.
The 28-year-old driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact Durham Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
