A 68-year-old man has died after being struck by an SUV in a parking lot in Pickering, according to Durham Regional Police.
Officers responded to the parking lot at 1105 Kingston Road shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, where a black Ford SUV had hit the pedestrian. Police said the victim became trapped beneath the vehicle for a period of time.
Emergency responders lifted the SUV and attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver remained at the location and is cooperating with investigators. The area was closed for several hours while police examined the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Regional Police.
