A 28-year-old man from London is facing multiple criminal charges following two break-ins and a vehicle crash involving a police cruiser early Sunday morning in the city’s east end.
Around 7 a.m. on October 19, the suspect allegedly entered an unlocked home on Elizabeth Street, stealing several items and identification documents before leaving. About an hour later, he reportedly returned to the area, broke into a neighboring home by cutting a window screen, and took cash, personal property, and vehicle keys.
A resident saw the suspect getting into their vehicle, prompting a call to police. The suspect fled northbound and was soon located by officers in the Kipps Lane area. He allegedly drove the stolen vehicle into a marked police cruiser, causing approximately $2,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
Police arrested the man at the scene and recovered stolen items, identification documents, and a prohibited knife during a search.
