A 25-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving after crashing a white Chevrolet pickup truck into a home in Whitby late Saturday night and attempting to flee the scene on foot.
The crash occurred around 11:50 p.m. near Carnwith Drive East and Watford Street. According to police, the vehicle was speeding northbound on Watford Street when it ran a stop sign and slammed into a residence, causing major structural damage.
The driver fled on foot but was tracked down shortly after by officers, with support from the Air1 police helicopter.
Lucas Desbois has been charged with four offences, including impaired and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He was released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date. The investigation is ongoing.
