A fatal two-vehicle collision in Port Perry early Sunday morning has left one person dead and two others injured. According to Ontario Provincial Police, the crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. on Highway 7/12 near 4th Line when two vehicles travelling in opposite directions collided head-on.

The driver of one vehicle, a 53-year-old man from Sunderland, died at the scene. A 32-year-old man from Innisfil was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a 35-year-old man from North York was airlifted to a trauma centre in serious condition.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 7/12 were temporarily closed as OPP officers, including technical collision investigators and a reconstructionist, examined the site. The roadway has since reopened.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage to contact the OPP.
