A pedestrian has died after being struck by an OC Transpo bus on Highway 417 in Ottawa, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
The collision happened around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes near Parkdale Avenue. Ottawa paramedics said the man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, but OPP confirmed Thursday morning that he later died.
The highway was shut down for several hours while OPP technical collision investigators and a reconstructionist examined the scene. The eastbound lanes reopened shortly after midnight, at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday.
