A man is facing several criminal and traffic-related charges after allegedly evading police and crashing into a home in Cambridge.

According to the Waterloo Regional Police Service, an officer spotted a grey 2012 Ford Focus on Thursday night displaying two different licence plates, both of which were expired. When police attempted to stop the vehicle on Can-Amera Parkway, the driver did not pull over.

Officers later saw the car near Langs Drive and Mary Avenue but did not initiate another stop at that time. Shortly afterward, the vehicle continued on and crashed into a residence on Concession Road.

Police say the driver then fled on foot but was located nearby and taken into custody. The 33-year-old suspect was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
