A 48-year-old man from Moonbeam Township has been charged with multiple offences following an alleged impaired driving incident on Highway 11.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash shortly after 5:20 p.m. on May 8. Investigators found a pickup truck in a ditch on the south side of the highway, but the driver had left the scene before officers arrived.

Police later located the individual at a nearby residence and determined he had been operating the Ford F-150 involved in the collision. Officers reported signs of impairment and arrested the man before transporting him to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

The accused faces charges including impaired driving, operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

As part of the penalties, his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. He has since been released and is scheduled to appear in a Kapuskasing court on July 6.
